Senior Marketing Manager
Schedule: 10+ hours per week
Pay: Hourly
The senior marketing manager is responsible for marketing and promoting The State News to the Michigan State University campus community through digital, social media and on-the-ground activations. Daily tasks include planning and executing marketing campaigns, creating a daily M-F newsletter and analyzing social media post performance to gauge what is connecting with TSN’s audience and how to improve the organization’s standing procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University
- Proficiency in Basecamp, Canva, Slack and Google Workspace or any other cloud-based software platforms
- Understand the type of marketing content that will resonate with Spartan community
- Strong communication, organization, public speaking and event management skills
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Generate promotional ideas that impart a lasting, meaningful impact on the Spartan community via social media and on-the-ground activations.
- Monitor trends (social media, Google Trends) daily to see what’s trending and how TSN’s digital presence can join the conversation.
- Expand TSN’s brand by maintaining a consistent, up-to-date social media presence and tone that engages our audience and drives traffic to the website.
- Collaborate with the social media team to plan and enact meaningful marketing campaigns.
- Create a daily newsletter (M-F) to strengthen our relationship with email subscribers.
- Check website and social media analytics daily, noting what content does well on each platform.
- Integrate TSN into Spartan culture through partnerships with campus organizations.
- Conceptualize, execute and work in-person events to solidify TSN as an East Lansing staple.
- Understand what is being produced at TSN and how we can capitalize on newsroom content.
- Attend weekly team meetings
- Maintain regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the advertising and business director.
