Part-time position: 2 days per week, minimum of 2 assignments per week

Position Overview

The Multimedia Reporter serves as a visual storyteller, capturing compelling photo, video and audio content that brings MSU campus life, East Lansing and Spartan athletics to life. This role combines traditional photography with modern multimedia production, creating engaging content for both print and digital platforms.

• Complete two weekly multimedia assignments covering MSU campus, East Lansing, and athletics
• Integrate photo/video/audio content and edit efficiently for timely publication
• Provide real-time coverage including during live sporting events
• Partner with reporters and social media team to enhance cross-platform storytelling
• Pitch original visual stories and develop engaging digital presentations
• Write AP-style captions and maintain technical quality standards
• Respond quickly to breaking news and coordinate with editorial staff
• Build source relationships and stay informed on campus developments
• Uphold journalistic ethics while creating accurate, engaging content
