MSU Administration Reporter
Pay: Per-Assignment Rate (2 stories per week, 2 days in the newsroom)
QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University (12+ credit hours)
Understand the type of news content apt to resonate with the Spartan community
Strong writer, interviewer
Able to meet deadlines
Worked at State News for at least one semester
JOB DESCRIPTION
Produces stories related to MSU administration, administrative policies, MSU academic policies, and other campus and student-related interests and concerns.
Works to find the most engaging and interesting stories related to MSU administrative policies and academic concerns while finding the most engaging, interesting, and interactive ways to tell these stories.
Attends every MSU Board of Trustees meeting and writes follow-up stories in a timely manner.
Collaborates and communicates often with visual journalists on each story to help create the most engaging content.
Works with editors and fellow reporters during breaking news to ensure it is covered and that someone reaches the scene as quickly as possible.
Maintains journalistic ethics and social media ethics.
Creates stories that are informative, interesting, fair, and accurate.
Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the managing editor.
