Newsroom - Administration Reporter
Pay: Per Assignment Rate (2 stories per week, 2 days in the newsroom)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University (12+ credit hours)
- Understand the type of news content apt to resonate with Spartan community
- Strong writer, interviewer
- Able to meet deadline
- Worked at State News for at least one semester
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Produces stories related to MSU administration, administrative policies, MSU academic policies and other campus and student-related interests and concerns.
- Works to find the most engaging and interesting stories related to MSU administrative policies and academic concerns while finding the most engaging, interesting and interactive ways to tell these stories.
- Attends every MSU Board of Trustees meeting and writes follow-up stories in a timely manner.
- Collaborates and communicates often with visual journalists on each story to help create the most engaging content.
- Works with the editors and fellow reporters when breaking news happens to ensure it is covered and someone gets to the scene as quickly as possible.
- Maintains journalistic ethics and social media ethics.
- Creates stories that are informative, interesting, fair and accurate.
- Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the managing editor.
