Position Overview

The podcast editor is responsible for the quality and execution of The State News’ weekly podcasts. Working with the podcast hosts, the podcast editor ensures that podcasts are an important part of The State News’ weekly content flow

• Meets with podcast hosts and editor-in-chief to prepare content for The State News’ podcasts.
• Ensuring consistency throughout each podcast series.
• Sends edited audio to the editor-in-chief for final approval and publication.
• Ensures that podcasts do not recycle the same content — that each episode is fresh, informative, fun, and relevant to the MSU community.
• Works to build a following for the individual podcasts.
• Is present at all podcast records, catching issues before post-production.
• Writes description and headline for each podcast episode, adhering to AP Style guidelines and State News branding and SEO.
• Promotes podcast in coordination with social media editor
• Publishes all podcasts on a consistent schedule
• Handles video production for the podcast
• Maintains office hours as assigned by the managing editor.
