Social Media Coordinator
Pay: Per Day Rate - 5 days per week
Position Overview
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for managing all the digital media reporters while also overseeing the analysis of our social media engagement data. They will develop strategies and creative ways to post on social media to elevate The State News’ social media and community presence.

Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University (12+ credit hours)
Understand the type of social content apt to resonate with Spartan community

JOB DESCRIPTION
Completes all State News newsletters including daily, sports and parents, other
Helps create engaging content that is relevant to State News articles and builds upon trends for each social media platform. How can we join the conversation?Craft effective social media content that engages The State News audience in innovative ways utilizing platform-specific functions.Organize the social media reporters and delegate social media posts across all platforms including short form video content and regular news posts Brainstorm short form video content Helps build The State News brand by creating a consistent, up-to-date social media presence and tone to drive traffic to the website.Goes beyond posting scheduled content and works with digital team, newsroom staff to develop innovative and engaging social media posts and campaigns.Approves content before posting. Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the managing editor.Keeps track of team’s pay on newsroomwide document, preferably on a daily basis.Monitors Google Trends daily to see what’s trending and how State News’ digital presence can join the conversation.Updates story files in CEO to improve search-engine optimization in headlines and body copy. Looks at website and social media analytics daily, notes what types of stories/content did well on each platform.Makes biweekly suggestions in a written report to digital and editor team, compiling results from daily analysis.Crafts effective example social media content that engages The State News audience in innovative ways utilizing platform-specific functions.Helps build The State News brand by creating a consistent, up-to-date social media presence and tone to drive traffic to the website.Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the managing editor.Understands what content is being produced at The State News and makes recommendations on where coverage could be strengthened or expanded upon.Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the managing editor.Keeps track of team’s pay on newsroomwide document, preferably on a daily basis.
