Social Media Coordinator - News
Pay: Per-Day Rate - 5 days per week
Position Overview
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for managing all digital media reporters and overseeing the analysis of our social media engagement data. They will develop strategies and creative ways to post on social media to elevate The State News’ presence across social media and in the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University (12+ credit hours)
Understands the type of social content apt to resonate with the Spartan community
Use analytics to improve reach
Able to meet deadlines
JOB DESCRIPTION
Coordinate, but not collaborate with, counterpart in marketing/advertising
Assign and create engaging content that is relevant to State News articles and builds upon trends for each social media platform. How can we join the conversation?
Manage the social media content creators and delegate work, tasks, and responsibilities
Approves content before posting.
Assign schedules to social reporters to ensure productive post output
Helps build The State News brand by creating a consistent, up-to-date social media presence and tone to drive traffic to the website.
Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the managing editor.
Keeps track of the team’s pay in the newsroomwide document, preferably daily.
Looks at website and social media analytics daily and notes which types of stories/content did well on each platform.
