Social media content creator - Marketing
Pay: 2-4 assignments per week, 2 days in the newsroom
Position Overview
10+ hours per week | Daily rate (4 hours/day; up to 16 hours)
The marketing social content creator is responsible for creating high-quality, engaging content to post to The State News' 75k+ cross-platform social media following. The ideal candidate for this role has a firm grasp on both social media and user trends, a strong personality, and inventive ideas for expanding TSN's brand identity and social media presence. Daily tasks include creating engaging social media content tailored to student interests, executing marketing campaigns, and analyzing post engagement to gauge what is and isn't working.
QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University (12+ credit hours)
Understand social media trends and students' online media consumption habits.
Use analytics to improve reach
Able to meet deadlines
Vivacious personality, creative, detail-attentive, organized, and comfortable on camera
JOB DESCRIPTION
Conceive and produce engaging, high-quality video- and photo-based campaigns/content for the purpose of connecting with TSN's student-focused social media accounts.
Find unique, inventive ways to market both TSN and its editorial content on social media.
Monitor trends (social media, Google Trends) to determine how TSN's digital presence can join the conversation.
Stay attuned to how students at MSU use social media and how TSN's social content can cater to them.
Expand TSN's brand by maintaining a consistent, up-to-date social media presence and tone.
Collaborate with the marketing executive and social media coordinator to plan and enact meaningful marketing campaigns.
Check website and social media analytics daily, noting what content does well on each platform.
Work in-person events/activations to solidify TSN as an East Lansing staple.
Attend weekly business team meetings.
Maintain regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the advertising and business director.
