Pay: Per-day rate (3 days per week)
QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University (12+ credit hours)
Understands the type of news content apt to resonate with the Spartan community
Strong writer, interviewer
Able to meet deadlines
JOB DESCRIPTION
Ensures all reporters create content regularly and that student interests and concerns are covered.
Works to recruit contributors across the entire campus beyond just Journalism School
Works with staff to set story deadlines and accountability measures. Keeps up with team members’ progress on assignments; intercedes if necessary.
Edits and publishes articles.
Works with reporters to brainstorm and consider potential visuals for each story.
Leads editorial board meetings and contributes ideas for editorials and their personal opinion on editorial topics.
Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the managing editor.
Keeps track of the team’s pay in a newsroom-wide document, preferably daily.
