Pay: Per-day rate (3 days per week)

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University (12+ credit hours)

• Understands the type of news content apt to resonate with the Spartan community

• Strong writer, interviewer

• Able to meet deadlines

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Ensures all reporters create content regularly and that student interests and concerns are covered.

• Works to recruit contributors across the entire campus beyond just Journalism School

• Works with staff to set story deadlines and accountability measures. Keeps up with team members’ progress on assignments; intercedes if necessary.

• Edits and publishes articles.

• Works with reporters to brainstorm and consider potential visuals for each story.

• Leads editorial board meetings and contributes ideas for editorials and their personal opinion on editorial topics.

• Maintains regular newsroom office hours as assigned by the managing editor.

• Keeps track of the team’s pay in a newsroom-wide document, preferably daily.
