Pay: Per-day rate - 2 days in the newsroom
Position Overview
Digital media reporters are responsible for being experts across all social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X. They will develop strategies to elevate The State News’ social media and community presence.
Pay is per scheduled day, plus any call-in for breaking news
QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled as a full-time student at Michigan State University (12+ credit hours)
Understand social media trends and students' online media consumption habits.
Use analytics to improve reach
Able to meet deadlines
Vivacious personality, creative, detail-attentive, organized, and comfortable on camera
JOB DESCRIPTION
Creates engaging content that is relevant to State News articles and builds upon trends for TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram Reels.
Crafts effective social media content that engages The State News audience in innovative ways utilizing platform-specific functions.
Brainstorms, films, and edits their own video content while also advising other social media reporters on what TikToks and Reels they can create themselves
Helps build The State News brand by creating a consistent, up-to-date social media presence and tone to drive traffic to the website.
Gets content approved before posting.
Maintains regular newsroom office hours as documented by the managing editor.
