Established in 1909, The State News serves as Michigan State University's official independent student-operated news organization. The publication maintains StateNews.com and produces a bi-monthly print newsmagazine distributed on and off-campus throughout the fall and spring academic terms, alongside a daily email newsletter.

Beyond its editorial operations, The State News operates SNworks (www.MySNworks.com), a subsidiary that delivers comprehensive website design, hosting, and technical support solutions to over 160 university and commercial media organizations nationwide.
